Summary
ABOUT US: Located in North County San Diego, California, The Escondido Creek Conservancy is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring the Escondido Creek watershed. The Conservancy has protected over 7,000 acres of wildlands and is working to improve creek water quality to enhance wildlife habitat. The Conservancy also supports educational programs and compatible outdoor recreation within the watershed and the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve—a 784-acre park featuring 11 miles of trails.

DUTIES: The Digital Cataloging and Exhibit Development Intern will work closely with Conservancy Education Staff and EFFR Rangers during their time. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Digitally catalog past Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve's Interpretive Center Exhibits.
- Organize the physical exhibits into storage.
- Assist in the creation of a new nature-based exhibit for 2025.
- Collaborate with Conservancy Education Staff and EFFR Rangers to ensure accurate and comprehensive cataloging.
- Participate in meetings and planning sessions as required.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: This internship is suitable for students or individuals looking to gain experience in conservation, education, or a related field who are age 18 or older. Ideal candidates will have:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with digital cataloging tools and techniques.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in environmental conservation and education.
- Well-versed in Canva or have experience in graphic design.
- Basic knowledge of Southern California ecology and species is helpful but not required.
- Experience in museum or exhibit curation is highly desirable and would be beneficial for the role but not required.
LOGISTICS: The internship requires an average of 4 hours per week, with 50% remote and 50% in-person flexibly scheduled. Work is generally Monday-Friday, with no weekend commitments. This internship period is from October 2024 to January 2025, excluding holidays. It may be extended if needed or requested.
