Under the guidance of the Director of Outreach, the Communications Coordinator plays a significant role in sharing the Center’s work with the public, and is responsible for assisting in the development and sharing of external communications, including website stories, social media content, press releases, newsletters, and more. The Communication Coordinator assists in the management of the Center’s website, ensuring that information is up to date and accurate, and helps plan and manage the Center’s annual Call of the Wild conference on wildlife rehabilitation.

A successful Communications Coordinator works closely with Center staff to cultivate stories and seeks to creatively engage audiences in new ways.

Summary

Duties & Responsibilities 

The Communications Coordinator has a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Cultivating and writing stories of animal rescue, treatment, and release to share with the public
  • Formatting stories, blog posts, and other content on the Center’s website, showcasing a wide variety of stories that represent and promote the mission of the Wildlife Center
  • Assisting in the creation of social media content that shares our work and identity with our large and growing online community, using analytics to evaluate what content is most successful and engaging
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Outreach, sending targeted press releases to share compelling stories with news organizations, with the goal to increase public awareness – and support – of the Wildlife Center’s work
  • Assist in cultivating relationships with media contacts
  • Writing monthly event newsletters and Caring for Critter updates to Center supporters
  • Assists in the planning and management of the Center’s Call of the Wild Conference, a three-day hybrid conference on wildlife rehabilitation. This includes managing registrations, working with both our online conference platform as well as on-site preparations and logistics at a local conference center, generating nametags and certificates, and other logistics for a well-organized and successful educational event.
  • Participating in other outreach activities such as supporting the online moderated discussion, assisting with Center tours, and contributing to professional training programs
  • Providing event support for other Center events, including regular donor events and the Center’s annual Gala
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation Information

Starting at $18.50/hour
