Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (ET) Monday through Friday.

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Statewide travel is required to perform the duties of this position (1-25%).

May require work time outside of regularly scheduled hours over 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

Within four months of employment, successful completion of Boater Safety certification, Hunter Safety certification, USA Archery Level II Instructor training, ACA Level I Kayak Instructor Training, and FWC Trailer Towing course.

Additional Requirements:

Employees should promptly resolve questions or problems relating to the Commission, its programs and/or fish and wildlife resources. Employees should seek to gain public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida’s citizens in a positive and proactive manner and by listening to what the customer wants and striving to meet their needs. When appropriate, employees will explain the reasons for agency actions or decisions while communicating a consistent Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) point-of-view.

Work at FWC is cross-functional meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWC’s organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.

Responsible for following the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Department of Financial Services rules and FWC’s invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.

Experience:

  • 6 years of professional experience in training, education, staff development, personnel, or an agency program area or
  • Substitution of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in training, education, staff development, personnel, or an agency program area, or
  • Substitution of a master's degree from an accredited college or university, or
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine, organize and plan most effective youth conservation programs for a diverse group of stakeholders, constituents and partners
  • Serve as a Regional Partnership Coordinator
  • Motivate a diverse range of partners to actively engage in youth fishing, boating, shooting sports, wildlife discovery and conservation stewardship activities
  • Identify, foster and leverage partnership opportunities to reach diverse audiences Act as liaison between Regional partners and FYCCN administration
  • Plan and conduct meetings with potential partners to identify training needs, knowledge and abilities
  • Convey FYCCN’s vision through effective writing and oral communication Responsible for disseminating FYCCN conservation education resources and youth programming opportunities.
  • Evaluate education programs and conservation activity opportunities at FYCCN partner sites
  • Assist with integration of FYCCN educational curricula, family activities, conservation programs and centers/camps into individual partner sites
  • Conduct trainings and provide instruction to partner staff and volunteer instructors to enhance fishing, boating, wildlife viewing and shooting sports offerings
  • Work with FWC Divisions and Offices to encourage agency involvement with youth conservation education programs
  • Identify and prioritize materials and equipment needs at partner sites and coordinate equipment distribution
  • Oversee equipment loan program and ensure maintenance of program equipment
  • Administrative Duties: Attend staff meetings, complete and submit required reports, participate in professional development courses, and complete timesheets in a timely and thorough manner. Assure that files and documentation are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained; and, perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
  • Knowledge of fishing, fishing equipment and boating; experience with firearms, archery equipment, hunting and shooting sports and in volunteer management.
  • Skilled in operational planning, delegation and collaborative team building, public speaking, in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to be a team player and work integrally with various stakeholders, partners and government agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently, to take initiative and work creatively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience and a wide range of contacts at different levels.
  • Ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to travel, enter and exit a vehicle or/and vessel without assistance, lift 55 pounds, and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.
