We are looking for an Education Manager to lead our vibrant team of educators. The Education Manager supervises program staff, ensures high quality programs through training and mentorship, manages key projects, and assists with organizational operations.

Summary

This person will also do some teaching in classrooms and the field to best understand our programming, teacher needs, and the unique nature of outreach education. They will help to ensure that Nature Vision is fully meeting our mission and goals of the current strategic plan with our team. 

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a high level of creativity, thoughtfulness, and flexibility. This person will thrive working with a diverse team, students, and our partners. They will have strong interpersonal skills, and take joy in facilitating learning and mentoring educators. They will also have an interest in taking Nature Vision’s work to the next level while continuing the high quality of our current programming. Our curriculum reaches many diverse students in our region and the Education Manager must have a keen eye for training staff in culturally responsive curriculum so our programs can be relevant to all students. This person works with the Executive Director and collaborates with the Education Programs Manager and other leadership staff at Nature Vision.

Position Description
Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Manage and train a team of 6-10 full time and part time educators
  • Assist the Nature Vision Preschool team as needed
  • Hire and onboard new Educators with the Education Programs Manager
  • Manage and teach programs for schools in-person and remotely
  • Coordinate and facilitate stewardship teams
  • Answer teacher questions related to programming
  • Represent or speak at local workshops, conferences, or panels on Nature Vision’s behalf
  • Develop and direct summer day camp programs (summer work shifts to mainly day camps)
  • Project Manager for revision of existing curriculum and development of new curriculum in collaboration with the Curriculum Specialist
  • Project Manager for program evaluations and other staff projects
  • Assist with grants as needed
  • Assist with contract management and reporting
  • Assist with creation and modification of policies and procedures
  • Assist with limited Executive Director duties
  • Cross train on the Executive Director position to increase institutional knowledge
  • Maintain existing and create new community partnerships
  • Other duties as assigned

     

  • Start Date: 9/3/24. A later start date may be possible.

     

  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and experience in education, interpretation, science, or related field required. Combination of education and experience in developing and managing education projects and programs; managing, training and evaluating staff; experience teaching in classrooms and in the field with students of various ages.  Master’s degree in education or a related field preferred. Must be a US Citizen or resident alien and able to read, speak, and write the English language clearly.

     

  • Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Washington State Drivers’ License and have an insured vehicle to drive to school. Must maintain current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certificates. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and up to date with COVID-19 vaccines prior to start date. Must be able to load and move up to 50 pounds of equipment with the use of a handcart.

Compensation Information

Salary: $26-30 per hour, depending on experience. 

Paid time off: 10 paid holidays (set), vacation time accrued at 1.54 hours for every 40 hours worked, and sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. $300/month health stipend provided. 401K without match available.
