The High Mountain Institute is seeking a part-time Human Resources (HR) Coordinator & Executive Assistant, a 0.5 FTE, hourly, administrative position. The ideal job candidate would be interested in developing skills in the areas of human resources and executive support. This position will work with multiple departments across the organization and reports to the Director of Finance & Operations. This role is an in-person position on our campus in Leadville, CO.

Summary

Primary Job Responsibilities:
HR Duties:
Monitor HR compliance across all departments at HMI.
Manage all employee onboarding and offboarding. Coordinate termination process for all departing employees including termination of payroll and benefits.
Act as a main point of contact for all on-campus housing management including housing agreements, coordinating updates to housing guidelines, deposits, walk-throughs, etc.
Manage all workers compensation and unemployment claims.
Work with the Administrative Coordinator & Hiring Oversight Committee to help oversee hiring processes.
Participate in benefits training, professional development, etc. 
Assist with updating annual employee paperwork, manuals, and guidelines.
Assist Director of Finance with other HR related tasks as needed, including backup for running payroll

Additional Duties: 
Assist Development and Admissions departments with projects and mailings as needed. 
Assist Administrative Coordinator with projects as needed.
Help coordinate campus events throughout the year, including Family Weekends, Reunions, Board Meetings, and other staff events.
Provide Head of School with weekly administrative support including scheduling, and correspondence.
Act as an alternate for Board Meeting and Committee Meeting minutes as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 
High School Diploma or GED
Previous experience in related field
Computer Skills (Quickbooks, MS Word, MS Excel, Google Suite, Windows)
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Understanding of HMI’s mission

Preferred Qualifications:
BA or higher
1-3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop
Strong written and oral communication skills
Time management skills; ability to effectively prioritize and organize tasks
