Spend your summer in the wilds of Northwest Colorado with Rocky Mountain Youth Corps—where hard work meets unforgettable adventure.

As a Youth Conservation Corps Crew Leader, you’ll guide a crew of 12 youth members (grades 6-12) through trail building, habitat restoration, and community projects—while camping, backpacking, and living outside 24/7. You’ll mentor young people, create a safe and challenging team environment, and help them grow into confident leaders.

✔ Lead meaningful conservation work
✔ Backpack, camp, and explore Colorado’s backcountry
✔ Facilitate team-building and outdoor education
✔ Transition into fall as an outdoor science instructor

This is more than a job—it’s a chance to shape lives (including your own) through dirt, sweat, and mountain air.

Summary

As a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Crew Leader, you will lead crews of 10 young people on two or four-week sessions. You will provide a safe, yet adventurous space for youth to work hard, grow personally and professionally, and develop strong bonds with their crew.  We offer three different crew types: YCC Adventurers (6th-7th graders), YCC Trailblazers (8th-9th graders) and YCC Outdoor Leaders (10th-12th graders). These are two or four-week sessions with each crew where you are together camping, completing service projects, and recreating 24/7. Each age group camps in the front country and 8th-12th graders go on a backpacking expedition. You are expected to facilitate each age group in team building activities and experiential education activities throughout your time with them. Youth Crew Leaders are supported in the field by a Field Coordinator.
