Wildlife Educator Coordinator

The Wildlife Education Position requires experience developing and producing instructional products for the general public, K–12 students, and educators on wildlife and conservation, teach skills to help people enjoy wildlife such as photography or wildlife watching, etc.  They will accomplish this by:

- Increase the public's understanding of conserving New Mexico's wildlife by offering in-person and virtual programs.
- Provide in-school and community programs focused on educating teachers, students and the public about New Mexico's aquatic and terrestrial wildlife and how the Department manages those species.
- Develop interactive, science-based curriculum and train teachers, contractors, and volunteers, providing them with knowledge, skills, and support to promote conservation throughout New Mexico.
- Develop educational content to reach youth and adult learners who are interested in wildlife, fisheries, Species of Greatest Conservation Needs (SGCN), ecosystems, and conservation.
- Develop and provide conservation education training to help share the Department's conservation message.
- Provide watchable wildlife (wildlife viewing) opportunities for people of all skill levels and ability levels.
- Support and assist educational program managers with large public events, including large events, Outdoor Adventure Show, Youth Hunter Education Challenges, R3 and marketing efforts, Archery programs, off-highway vehicle safety and awareness programs, conservation education programs, fish and wildlife projects, marketing and informational efforts, etc.

The ideal candidates will have experience in the following:
-Evaluating, coordinating, and implementing educational events and programs
-Experience in developing lesson plans
-Experience in community outreach
-Coordinating with partners to benefit all conservation educational efforts
-Managing a wildlife/fisheries program or project that had regional or statewide implications
-Knowledge of wildlife and the habitat they utilize
