Inspect and/or decontaminate watercraft throughout northern St. Louis County, Minnesota while providing education to the public about aquatic invasive species. Work outside and protect the Boundary Waters!

Summary

North St. Louis County is seeking Watercraft Inspectors to join them for the 2022 season. Watercraft Inspectors serve to inform and educate the public about the threats of ecologically harmful AIS to Minnesota’s waters. Inspectors will teach boaters how to self-inspect their watercraft and information from the boater will be entered into a tablet (provided) and uploaded daily to an inspection database.

Starting pay $15.00-$15.50/hr

Level 1 Inspectors: Responsible for public education, watercraft inspections for AIS, documentations and reporting, on-site surveys, and sample collection.

Level 2 Inspectors: Same responsibilities as Level 1 but will also be certified to perform decontamination services using hot, high pressure water.

Level 1 training will be available online. Level 2 training will be an online course paired with an in person field training.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age
Able to operate tablet devices and input digital information
Available to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays on a regular basis throughout May-October
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
