Summary
Position Description: Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructors of biology are expected to deliver 15 contact hours of instruction in a combination of courses that include: Concepts of Biology, Environmental Biology, Foundations of Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Principles of Biology I and II, and their associated laboratory courses. This is an academic year appointment for the months of August 2023-May 2024, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Courses are offered on the Statesboro, Armstrong, and Liberty campuses.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Master’s in Biology, or a closely related field, by July 1, 2023 with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Biology.
- Ability to teach online courses
- Experience working with electronic teaching websites
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned doctoral degree in Biology or a closely related field, by July 1, 2023
- Experience implementing student-centered pedagogies that promote an active learning environment
- A minimum of 1 year of college/university teaching
- Certification/training to teach online courses or experience teaching online courses
