New York State Department of Environmental Conservation camps combine environmental education, hunter education programs, and outdoor recreation into a fun adventure. Staff use a hands-on approach to teach 11-17 year old campers about the environment. Join us in 2024 and become a part of our Conservation Education legacy.

Summary

DEC seeks male and female staff for four residential Environmental Education Camps. All four camps cater to campers in two age groups: 11-13 years old or 14-17 years old. There are four camps around the state: Camp Colby near Saranac Lake and Pack Forest near Warrensburg both located in the Adirondacks, Camp DeBruce in the Catskill Mountains and Camp Rushford in Allegany County in western New York. Campers arrive on Sunday afternoon and leave on Friday at 4:30 PM.

Position Requirements

Specific requirements for each camps position are listed in Requirements for Summer Camp Positions (PDF), including Camp Director, Camp Assistant Director, Health Director, Waterfront Director, Camp Counselor, Cook, Camp Aide 2, and Camp Aide 1.

Must live on-site for all positions (except cook) as this is part of a 24-hour Sunday to Friday residential camp program.
