Wild Rivers Conservancy interns support activities that give people opportunities to learn about and explore the Riverway, as well as protect and restore the watershed’s rare natural resources. Gain practical work experience in the field of invasive species monitoring and management, as well as public engagement and education.

Summary

  • Watercraft Inspector Intern
    These positions are with Wild Rivers Conservancy and are supervised by the Invasive Species Field Technician in collaboration with the Invasive Species Coordinator. This internship provides applicants with practical work experience in the field of invasive species monitoring and management, as well as public engagement and education.
     
  • River Connections Intern
    Assist with K-12 environmental education programs and outdoor public programs to connect people to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, one of the nation's first wild and scenic rivers, and encourage stewardship of it and the watershed for generations to come.
     
  • Resource Management Intern
    This internship is offered in partnership with Wild Rivers Conservancy and the National Park Service at the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Gain practical work experience in resource management in a national park and one of the nation's first wild and scenic rivers.
     
  • Park Guide Intern
    These four internships are offered in partnership with Wild Rivers Conservancy and the National Park Service at the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Gain practical work experience in visitor services and interpretation in a national park. Interns will work with park rangers to create opportunities for park visitors to understand the significance of the Riverway and  its resources. Through this internship, interns will gain an understanding and appreciation for the role interpretive park staff play in connecting visitors to National Parks on a personal and emotional level.
     
  • Land Use Management Intern
    This internship is offered in partnership with Wild Rivers Conservancy and the National Park Service at the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Gain practical work experience in the field of land management via on-site scenic easement monitoring and using GIS and other computer tools to develop maps and other products. This internship provides exposure to multiple National Park Service career opportunities with a special emphasis on land-use management.
     
  • Invasive Species Intern
    Gain practical work experience in the field of invasive species monitoring and management and education, as well as public engagement and education. Interns will have the opportunity to learn many new skills from a variety of agencies and organizations, all while being outside working on the St. Croix River and throughout the watershed.
     
  • Community Engagement (DEIA) Intern
    Connect new and diverse audiences to the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers while gaining experience in community outreach, program facilitation, and relationship building. Work alongside Wild Rivers Conservancy staff, National Park Service Rangers, Riverway Volunteers, and Hmong and Community Ambassadors to help promote events and support event logistics.
