Do you enjoy working with youth in an outdoors, camp environment? Are you looking for a summer job where you develop leadership skills, teach various environmental education, recreation, and creative arts programs, collaborate with other team members, and have fun while doing so? If so, Florida 4-H camps are looking for folks like you to work with us this summer! This June and July, campers aged 6-16 will join us for week-long summer camp programs that all have environmental education activities throughout the week, and we are looking for positive, caring adults to help run these exciting and fun weeks of camp.

Summary

General Summer Camp Staff Responsibilities (can vary with the position):

  • Be the primary caregiver to campers’ social, emotional, and physical needs
  • Supervise youth aged 6-16 day and/or night and guide them around camp in accordance with their daily schedule
  • Support environmental educators during hands-on education activities and assist in behavior management throughout the day and night
  • Lead group recreational activities during cabin time and as needed
  • Oversee and manage cabin cleanliness, conduct a daily cabin inspection, and report any repairs that need to be made to the Assistant Camp Director
  • Contribute to and work during evening programs
  • Work cohesively with fellow team members
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the Camp Director and Assistant Director  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Desire and ability to work with youth and adults in an outdoor, camp setting
  • Ability to accept and adapt to guidance and supervision
  • Must be willing to obtain American Red Cross certification in CPR/FA/AED
  • Background screenings are required
  • At least 18 years of age by May 15, 2024

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Driver’s License
  • American Red Cross certification in CPR/FA/AED
  • Experience working with youth in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience exhibiting responsibility and reliability

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS:

  • Meals are provided during camp events
  • Lodging provided from May 15, 2024, through August 1, 2024, on-site
  • Staff are not required to work most weekends, unless the camp has booked a weekend rental group. If interested in working these groups, you will receive additional pay. For weekends with no groups, all staff will have at least 24-48 hours off between Friday and Sunday.

Compensation Information

SALARY:

$300-400/week, plus room and board and workers’ compensation coverage
