Summary

UF/IFAS Florida 4-H has new positions that can provide those opportunities for you! UF/IFAS Florida 4-H is a new AmeriCorps and Volunteer Florida grantee, and we are looking for people interested in serving their community through environmental education. AmeriCorps Environmental Educators will serve a critical role in delivering environmental education programs about Florida’s unique ecosystems, both on-site at the Florida 4-H camps and through outreach at schools, community events, and 4-H activities.
Job Description
Florida 4-H AmeriCorps members will help to book, organize, deliver, and evaluate environmental educational programs using Florida 4-H Environmental Education curriculum. These programs will be taught both on-site at the Florida 4-H camps and off-site at schools, community events, and 4-H activities. There are three Florida 4-H camps where AmeriCorps may serve – 4-H Camp Timpoochee (Niceville, FL), 4-H Camp Cloverleaf (Lake Placid, FL), and 4-H Camp Cherry Lake (Madison, FL). AmeriCorps members will be serving from one of these locations both on-site and off-site within their communities.
There are two different Member types available: Half-time members that must serve at least 900 hours and quarter-time members that must serve at least 450 hours. We will be filling member positions on a rolling basis until May 2023, with all member positions ending by July 31, 2023 at the latest.

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. There are 6.5 million young people in grades K-12 enrolled in the 4-H programs across America and approximately 200,000 within the State of Florida. This non-formal, practical educational program for youth is the youth development program of Florida Cooperative Extension – part of the University of Florida IFAS. The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach and caring adults to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens.

How to apply:
High School diploma or its equivalent is minimum requirements. Preferred qualification is a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, in sciences, education, natural resources, youth development, recreational leadership or other related fields is required. Must pass a Background Screening prior to hire. Valid driver’s license preferred.

Compensation Information
- Biweekly living stipends in the amount of $635
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for completion of full term of service ($3247.50 for half-time members and $1,718.25 for quarter-time members)
