Summary
Essential Tasks - You will play a lead role in educating youth on disaster preparedness and resiliency and environmental education curriculum, all part of a grant-funded project through the American Red Cross Long-Term Disaster Recovery program. Your responsibilities will include:
- Organize, deliver, and evaluate 30+ educational programs, including field trips, school enrichment activities, and summer camps for impacted students in grades K-12 through on-site and outreach programs (Sept-July), incorporating disaster preparedness and resiliency alongside positive youth development principles into existing educational classes, field trips, and camps.
- Strengthen youth life skills and resilience through hands-on educational experiences that align with Florida 4-H’s mission to develop leadership, civic engagement, and workforce readiness.
- Submit required grant expense documentation and evaluations, being the lead educator and coordinator during on and off-site programs and assisting in other grant duties as needed.
- Utilize Florida 4-H and American Red Cross curricula in outdoor/environmental education and disaster resiliency and life skills programming.
- Prepare and reset camp facilities for programs occurring on-site, including but not limited to facility/grounds upkeep and program materials maintenance and inventory.
- Provide supervision to youth during summer camp programs.
- Collaborate with fellow team members to create a lasting, positive impact on our Florida youth.
Work on average 40 hours/week, typically M-F, 8-5, with some night and weekend work required.
Travel to 4-H Camp Cherry Lake and surrounding counties is required, and travel to 4-H Camp Timpoochee and 4-H Camp Cloverleaf may be required. Work vehicle will be provided for travel.
Housing on-site at 4-H Camp Cherry Lake may be available.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to teach research-based, hands-on curricula focused on environmental education, disaster resiliency, and positive youth development to youth in grades K-12 and adults.
- Strong and effective oral and written communication with both large and small groups.
- Knowledge of basic grant and office skills to upkeep documentation for expenses and evaluation data.
