Summary
The Eno River Association is strengthening our team to increase our impact in the Eno River watershed. We have just launched a robust five-year strategic plan to meet the needs of our community and are seeking applicants for two full-time positions: Development Manager and Finance & Operations Manager.
The Eno River Association is an accredited land trust and watershed nonprofit founded in 1966 with a mission to protect the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River basin in northern Durham and Orange counties. It has protected 7,600 acres of natural and working lands and has helped create six local, state, and regional nature parks, including Eno River State Park, Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, West Point on the Eno City Park, Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve, Little River Regional Park, and the Confluence Natural Area. The Association continues to acquire land and secure easements, as well as provide stewardship, education programs, and events like the annual Festival for the Eno to inspire others to prioritize our local, natural resources. Ideal candidates will have:

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The Development Manager works collaboratively with the Development Director in maximizing financial support for the Association by managing all fundraising campaigns for donors under $1,000, establishing robust donor management and stewardship processes, and ensuring consistent and meaningful communications with all members, donors, volunteers, visitors, and other stakeholders of the Eno River Association. The 2023-27 Strategic Plan set ambitious goals for fundraising growth, and the incoming Development Manager should be eager to take a leading role in achieving those goals through robust annual fund and stewardship programs.
Summary of key responsibilities:
Fundraising (50%) Plan and execute a minimum of two (2) comprehensive fundraising campaigns and a Sustaining Member program for soliciting unrestricted contributions to the Association, incorporating techniques like direct mail, digital communications, and days of giving to reach target audience of new and renewed donors. Assist in the major gifts pipeline through robust stewardship programs, personalized management of donors in the $500<$1,000 level, and identification of leads for other fundraising staff.
Donor Stewardship (25%) Establish and execute a robust donor stewardship program including donation receipting processes; support other staff in stewardship of their volunteer base; maintain systems for tracking status, communication preferences, and engagement, of donor, volunteers, partners, and other friends in the constituent relationship management (CRM) database. Partner with the Finance and Operations manager to ensure accuracy of gift entry and regular reconciliation between CRM and accounting software.
Communications (25%) All staff at the Eno River Association support the communications and marketing goals for their programs and the overall organization through content creation and execution; the Development Manager coordinates these efforts, providing strategy, project management, and content creation for Association publications including website, social media, annual report/newsletter, and monthly eNewsletter; mobilizing staff, interns, contractors, and volunteers for content creation and production, as needed and able.
FINANCE AND OPERATIONS MANAGER
The Finance and Operations Manager will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Director of Development to maintain financial accounts and records. An integral part of the team, they will support our staff and board, our membership and volunteers, and the operations of the Eno River Association.
Summary of key responsibilities:
Financial Management (50%) Utilizing best standards and practices, support the Association’s daily financial duties while ensuring our business processes and accounting systems are achieving organization goals. Assist with weekly deposits; bi-weekly payroll; monthly reports and reconciliations; annual audits. Enter donations into our CRM database; monitor, update as needed; create reports as needed.
Office Administration & Community Outreach (50%) Maintain office building condition; arrange necessary repairs and upkeep. Maintain office supplies. Keep records of team meetings. Arrange IT and other professional support as needed. Manage Association phone line and email mailbox. Represent ERA at ERA- and community- events, as needed.

Compensation Information
Salary will be $50,000 for each position, with a benefits package including paid vacation, PTO, health insurance reimbursement, and 403(b). Team members will be based out of our administrative office in Durham, with an option to work up to two days per week from a remote location. These two positions are full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, exempt from overtime. Most work will take place during regular working hours, but some evening and weekend work may be necessary. Please note: all employees are required to support the programs that the Eno River Association hosts on New Year’s Day and the Fourth of July; compensation includes flexibility for alternative days off.
