Summary
Teacher Naturalists form the core of our program staff at the Montana Audubon Center, responsible for implementation of hands-on, experiential, nature-connected education and interpretive programs at our 54-acre site and adjacent Yellowstone River corridor. Participant ages range from toddler to adult, with the bulk of our programming focused on upper elementary students. Teacher Naturalists must be comfortable leading groups of students in the outdoors and themselves have enthusiasm for connecting with and learning about the natural world.
Major Responsibilities
- Conduct school-based field trips during the spring season
- Develop and implement curriculum for weekly themed Summer Camps
- Safely manage program participants in an outdoor environment
- Lead and instruct participants in other various program areas as needed
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all staff members as a team; i.e. co-teaching
Qualifications
- Comfortable working with elementary age children
- Experience leading groups for both education and exploration in an outdoor setting
- Interest and/or specific knowledge of natural history subjects
- Be a responsible, flexible, dependable, and self-motivated employee
- Be able to spend 80% of the program time outdoors (up to 5 hours)
Compensation Information
Location: Billings, Montana
Salary: Starting at $13/hr
Hours: 6 month, temporary position, 20+ hours/week
Start Date: April 3rd, 2023, ending September 1st 2023
