Summary

Position Start Date: June 3, 2024

 

The Summer Program Assistant is part of a collaborative seasonal team engaging participants in nature and play-based summer programs in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Teton Science Schools’ summer programs* develop curiosity, critical thinking skills, social-emotional learning, and science literacy in early youth through exploratory, outdoor adventures. Working closely with the Summer Program Faculty member, the Summer Program Assistant supports program systems and the instructor team to minimize chaos and ensure meaningful experiences for over 100 campers each week. The Program Assistant helps with all essential summer program logistics including managing administrative systems, communicating with and providing customer service for camper families, building and organizing weekly camp materials, facilitating staff team meetings, and assisting with camp program planning and instruction. This position will spend stretches of time both indoors at a computer and outdoors supporting programs in variable weather. *Though TSS offers summer programs for several age groups, this position would focus on early childhood through 5th grade. 

Responsibilities

● Manage weekly program data and materials, including group rosters, participant medical information, photo files, camping gear, teaching supplies, etc. 

● Support instructors in problem-solving, preparing materials, and implementing lessons and activities. ● Interact with participants and families with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication. ● Support team success by sharing ideas, challenges, and questions with teammates and supervisor in daily and weekly meetings. 

● Respond to emergencies as they arise according to TSS policies and support structures. ● Safely drive 15-passenger vans and minibuses with trailers. 

● Take care of yourself to stay motivated and successful through a long, challenging season. 

Qualifications: 

● Desire to work as a collaborative team member; ability to give and receive feedback. ● Ability to work independently with attention to detail. 

● Strong interpersonal skills working with kids and adults. 

● Desire to contribute to a safe, inclusive workplace and cultivate a sense of belonging for all. ● Experience using Google Suite, spreadsheets, and database management systems. ● Valid First Aid, Adult, Child, & Infant CPR & AED certification. 

● Valid driver’s license. 

● Minimum of 21 years of age. 

● Successful applicants must pass a criminal history background check and driving record review prior to start date.
