Summer Field Staff

North Branch Nature Center is seeking qualified individuals to teach and lead campers ages 4 to 15 during our 2023 summer camp season.

Responsibilities include:

● Share your love for nature and the outdoors with children.

● Lead group games, arts and crafts, sensory awareness activities, storytelling, and singing.

● Teach lessons in natural history and field studies.

● Work as a team member to promote a nature- and place-based approach to learning.

● Adhere to NBNC’s safety protocols and manage risk in an outdoor setting.

● Uphold NBNC’s commitment to promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI.)

● Participate in a week-long staff training.

● Participate in a daily debrief with camp co-leaders.

● Participate in a rotating schedule as an aftercare leader with other staff members.

● Participate in facilities/camp program material maintenance.

Qualifications

● At least 18 years of age.

● Life experience teaching in an outdoor environment, and/or relevant undergraduate coursework, and/or an undergraduate degree.

● Patient, energetic, fun-loving, hardworking, and possessing a sense of humor.

● Experience communicating with parents and caregivers.

● Experience in childhood education, environmental education, and/or a science background.

● Experience in time management, planning a schedule, and working out logistics.

● Flexibility, ability to work well with others, and open and effective communication style.

● Certification in standard First Aid and CPR, at a minimum.

● Proof of “up to date” COVID-19 vaccination is required for this position. Per CDC recommendations, boosters are required for immunization to be considered “up to date.” Exemptions will be considered by the Executive Director only in special circumstances.
