This is not your ordinary camp experience. Each team member gets personalized training in survival skills and how to be an effective nature mentor. Our aim is to see the light in each person, camper or staff and help inspire their passions and gifts. We do this through nature-connection games, team building, building natural shelters, building fires, and more. If you're ready to learn a lot about yourself, how to be an effective mentor, and to deepen your connection to nature, then join us

Summary

Get back to your roots and learn the philosophy of living close to nature, wilderness survival, and nurture your connection to the earth. We will explore the surrounding forests, swim in mountain streams, as we discover more about the magical world of nature through building natural shelters, making fires without matches, and preparing wild plants for food. We work to train people continuously so that Staff as well as Campers gain self-esteem, work cooperatively and make new friends, as they gain confidence in both living and feeling at home in the natural world. This is a camp where campers AND staff are truly looked after and cared about. It is a place where everyone can try new things and discover more about who they are.

Coordinators are in charge of daily operations including organizing their camp’s daily schedule, communicating with parents as well as other LES Administrative staff. Program Coordinators keep tabs on the pulse of camp, observing and providing feedback for Instructors, offering support with behavioral or medical situations, and tie the teaching teams together through daily briefings and debriefings. This really means that part of your job is to PLAY with the kids during swim time, participate in group games, and be present for those silly, memorable moments. Prior experience in managing adults is preferred.

The summer camp season runs June 5th through August 13th, with a week of training and optional week off mid-season. If you need housing, you are invited to stay at one of our Staff Camp locations. Here there are individual tent spaces, shared outdoor covered kitchen, shower, and toilet amenities as well as the comradery of living beside your coworkers. If you have experience working outside, are least 20 years of age, outgoing, fun, positive, responsible, a team player, open communicator, and passionate in connecting kids to nature, please consider joining us!
