Imagine the excitement as campers explore the wonders of the zoo, immersing themselves in close encounters with ambassador animals, engaging in spirited camp games, unleashing their creativity through arts and crafts, and delving into captivating educational themes. Each day is a new adventure, filled with discovery and laughter against the backdrop of our vibrant natural world.

Now, imagine yourself as a Camp Aide, entrusted with the task of supporting our dynamic education team throughout the camp. Your role is multifaceted, encompassing the seamless management of day-to-day operations. From administratively managing class rosters to ensuring smooth lunchtime routines, from maintaining meticulous records, your contribution ensures that every aspect of the camp runs like clockwork.

You have prepared for this role with a year of college education or relevant experience in an assistant or similar role.  You have a knack for creating engaging activities that foster a deep appreciation for nature and animals among campers. Your professionalism in interacting positively with diverse personalities and age groups cultivates inclusivity and respect. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools is essential for collaborative efforts.  With at least one year of college education, your experience in supervising individuals of all ages emphasizes a nurturing environment conducive to learning and growth supervising individuals of all ages, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment.

Do you have...

  • Ability to commit for the duration of camp dates June 10, 2024 – August 9, 2024?
  • One year of college education or relevant experience in an assistant or similar role?
  • Ability to to build positive engaging relationships?
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or willingness to learn related software required to complete tasks?
  • Ability to pass pre-employment requirements; Level II background and 5 panel drug screen?

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization on foot and operate a motorized cart.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and traverse zoo grounds on foot.
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors under all environmental conditions and temperatures.
  • Ability to frequently transport, lift and move items up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to consistently speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication with a public audience.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, flexibility, and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, stoop, bend, lift and prolonged standing/sitting.
  • Visual and auditory acuity appropriate for animal care, safety and to discern differences for computer screens, documents and/or labels.
  • Auditory acuity for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, two-way radio, and face-to-face interactions.
