Summary
Green Mountain Farm-to-School is a non-profit organization based in Newport, Vermont. Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of Vermont's children, farms and communities by providing programs to connect schools and farms through food and education.
Our primary program in the summer is The Lunchbox, a mobile meal site serving nutritious meals to children aged 18 & under. Last summer the Lunchbox served 4,449 free meals to youth. The Lunchbox also offers educational enrichment opportunities to foster learning and community building for kids and families. Another feature at The Lunchbox program is a charitable food project, the Market Basket, that distributes fresh produce gleaned from our school gardens, area farms, and other sources local to the community.
During the summer, our team also collaborates with community volunteers to care for over 15 school gardens Position Description: The primary responsibilities of the AmeriCorps Farm-to-School Coordinator will be to support, grow, present, and evaluate GMFTS’ Summer Meal Access Programs and support the Farm-to-School programs.
The Farm-to-School Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and implementing programs to youth about food and agriculture, connecting the community with summer produce and supporting School Gardens. This is a quarter-time AmeriCorps position. The Farm-to-School Coordinator reports to the Farm-to-School Program Manager. The position starts between May 1st-15th and ends August 8th, 2025 for a 450 hour term of service.
Qualifications: US citizenship Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience in education, youth development, or related fields. Ability to provide educational leadership and training Passion for promoting sustainable agriculture and nutrition Experience working with diverse communities and populations. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience with program coordination and event planning Knowledge of local food systems and farming practices is a plus

Compensation Information
GMFTS Quarter-time AmeriCorps members receive a Cost of Living Stipend of $6750, set rate Mileage Reimbursement, and an Educational Award of $1,956 at the end of service. GMFTS offers subsidized housing,and many training opportunities.
