At The Morton Arboretum, our commitment to continuous learning is reflected in one of our core employee values- “keep learning”. To address the challenge of staying updated on the multitude of projects and programs within our large institution, we are seeking a staff intern to assist in implementing an employee learning program. The focal point of this program is the monthly "Know Your Arboretum" (KYA) series, where staff members share insights on their work through presentations and workshops. The core responsibilities will include evaluating and researching KYA topics, recruiting presenters, planning sessions, and entering information on our intranet and Learning Management System. Your contribution will play a vital role in fostering a culture of ongoing learning and collaboration among our diverse workforce.

Summary

Position Summary: Assist with the implementation of an employee training program to help foster and enhance interdepartmental collaboration and communication. A key element of this training program is a monthly Know Your Arboretum (KYA) training series where staff from across the organization share information about their current work with members of other departments through in-person and/or virtual presentations and hands-on workshops. The Staff Learning Intern will help evaluate and research KYA topics, enlist presenters, plan sessions, and enter information into the Arboretum’s intranet and Learning Management System.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with Knowledge Management and Human Resources staff to elicit feedback from staff about learning needs and develop a prioritized list of future topics.
  • Collect and analyze Know Your Arboretum (KYA) attendance and other relevant data to identify trends and prioritize training needs.
  • Recruit staff presenters for KYA sessions.
  • Schedule and coordinate KYA sessions and enter them on the staff intranet site and in the Arboretum’s Learning Management System.
  • Review and edit transcripts from past training sessions.
  • Demonstrate alignment with the Arboretum’s employee core values to be inclusive, take ownership, work together, keep learning, and make the Arboretum exceptional.
  • Other duties as assigned.
