Position description:
Come join the Seattle Aquarium team! We’re looking for a senior marine science educator (SME) to work with the school and public programs department. The SME reports to and works cooperatively with the public programs coordinator. Within the school and public programs department, public programs focus on providing programming for non-school related groups, children, teens, adults and families. Currently this includes well-established and successful fee-based programs (i.e. Summer Camp) and drop-in programs (i.e. Toddler Time). The position will work with the public programs coordinator to instruct programs onsite and at local field sites, assist with the scheduling of staff and resources, act as a lead for seasonal staff and ensure the ongoing excellence of programs. In collaboration with team members and cross-departmental staff, this position will also play a key role in supporting the growth of programs and development of new public programs that meet our mission outcomes and fit the needs of our various audiences.
This position will work to build programming for the community by connecting them with a variety of high-quality experiences that fit our visitors’ needs. This position works closely with the public programs coordinator to ensure that programming goals are met in an equitable and inclusive way. We view this work through an equity lens, with the goal of removing barriers where they exist for members of the community to meaningfully engage with the Aquarium, to foster authentic, mutual relationships between the Aquarium and the community, and to bring diverse audiences together to achieve our mission. This work supports our strategic plan goal of inspiring conservation, and making the Aquarium and its programs accessible and welcoming to all.

Pay and benefits: $22.35 - $24.04/hour ($46,500 - $50,000/year), D.O.E. – please include pay expectations in your materials. Full-time staff are eligible for Seattle

We anticipate the following recruiting schedule for those candidates who are selected
