The Sky Mountain Outdoor Educational Center is in the Sierra Nevada's and sits right on Lake Valley Reservoir. Sky Mountain is a residential science camp that serves primarily 5th and 6th grade students. Our staff of Naturalists will be teaching environmental and science concepts while guiding students through a new and unique environment. Owned and operated by the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Sky Mounted is located in Emigrant Gap, CA and only 45 minutes from north Lake Tahoe. With snow in the winter months and a pristine mountain lake in the summer and fall, there are educational and recreational opportunities to be enjoyed all year!

Senior Naturalist:

The Senior Naturalist is a full time, permanent position which provides and leads learning experiences for participants in the outdoor education program and guest groups. The Senior Naturalist will assist in developing class programs, develop curriculum and exercise supervision over Sky Mountain naturalist apprentices, classes, and special programs. Applicants with experience in education, outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship will be considered. Includes paid training of Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED. Shared dorm-style housing is provided as well as meals during program. Salary range $23 - $28/hour and includes benefits/retirement. Salary range $3,978 - $4,837/month.

Naturalists Apprentice:

Are you interested in the field of Outdoor Education or Environmental Education? Sky Mountain is for you! Naturalist Apprentices will be guided by Senior Naturalists and will teach classes, lead team building activities, and provide energy to the outdoor experience. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to live and work in community together and serve as role models and leaders for youth as they learn about themselves and their world. Includes paid training of Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED. Shared dorm-style housing is provided as well as meals during program. There are three seasons: January - June, June- and July - August. Work schedules range from 32-40/hours a week, with overtime opportunities. Salary $18/hour.
