JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal Program Coordinator (March – end of September)

If you thrive on organization and maritime adventures, this role is for you. As Program Coordinator, you’ll be the logistical backbone for youth maritime programs at Northwest Maritime (NWM) and aboard NWM vessels. You’ll assist in training seasonal staff, facilitate communications, support program decisions, and ensure a safe, positive experience for participants. JOB DESCRIPTION: Youth Programs Educator (mid-April - End of September)

This six-month gig of nautical excitement (mid-April to the end of September) is tailor-made for the science, sailing, and STEM enthusiast – because, let's face it, these things float your boat. If you're the type who gets a kick out of guiding students through the mysteries of the sea by tying knots, joyfully belting out sea shanties, and nailing that elusive synchronized rowing stroke, well, then grab an oar! As a Youth Programs Educator, you'll be inspiring students aged 5 to 17 in maritime experiences and team-building activities - because the sea is the most powerful teacher we know. In the spring and fall, you'll be honing your science inquiry skills while sailing and unleashing your leadership skills for ashore and afloat programs. Come summer, you’ll be messing about in boats with kids, stirring up wonder and curiosity. JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal Captain (April – Early October)

This position is perfect for those passionate about maritime education and adventure. As Captain, you’ll engage with participants of all ages—from elementary students to adult learners—throughout multiple seasons. In spring and fall, you’ll lead school programs focused on maritime skills and team-building, both on land and water. During summer, you’ll teach adult sailing classes on keelboats, enjoying the best sailing weather of the year. The Captain will also help with youth camps, taking students out on various vessels.

Programs involve a variety of vessels, including 26-foot historic longboats, keelboats, and small craft, as well as onshore activities at Northwest Maritime. You’ll be responsible for vessel safety, gear management, and participant well-being, fostering a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment.
