Summary
Do you like hiking through the backcountry? Do you enjoy interacting with the public? City of Rocks National Reserve/Castle Rocks State Park is looking to fill two seasonal ranger positions within the Compliance and Safety program.
Title: Seasonal Ranger – Compliance
Supervisor: Park Ranger – Compliance and Safety
Base Wage: $14.00 per hour
Start: May 1, 2022
End: October 29, 2022
Note: This is a 5-month seasonal position with a variable start date.
Schedule: 40-hour weeks, generally 8 am to 4:30 pm, expect to work most weekends and some holidays. Additionally, some evening patrols from 3 pm to 7 pm may be scheduled.
Purpose:
To provide campground management and rule compliance enforcement within City of Rocks NR and Castle Rocks SP including reservation management and fee collections. Additionally, this position will patrol park trails and assist visitors as needed.
Duties:
- Daily collection of fees associated with camping and entry
- Daily management of reservations for campsites via Aspira One and posting reservations on campsite posts
- Resolve simple camping conflicts that may occur with the assistance of the Compliance Ranger and Visitor Services Ranger
- Engage with visitors by answering questions and providing information
- Patrol to ensure rule compliance, trash removal, and visitor safety by routinely hiking the trails within City of Rocks and Castle Rocks
- Monitor parking areas for capacity and assist visitors to find appropriate parking spots
- Maintaining park equipment and vehicles in the compliance program
- Assist with other programs as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- 18 years old or older
- Driver’s License
Desired Skills and Certifications:
- Experience in customer service
- Good conflict management
- First Aid/CPR

No housing is provided, but in addition to wage, the park offers seasonal employees free camping, showers, laundry facility, refrigerator space, and Wi-Fi.
