Summary
About the Position:
We have exceptional Environmental Education programs for all ages including in-school programs; field studies; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math); public and teen programs and more. We are seeking an individual who loves the outdoors and enjoys sharing nature with children. Organizational and positive interpersonal skills are a must. This non-exempt position is seasonal and part-time from September 1 - December 31. If successful, potential to return for an additional 10-months. Reports to the Director of Education.
Compensation:
Teaching: $16/hour
Housing is available if needed
Essential Functions:
- Teaching K-12 field studies program at Mohonk Preserve and at off-site school and community outreach programs.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of program participants, outdoors and indoors
- Serve as part of the Education team and as an information link from the Preserve to teachers, parents and students.
- Gain familiarity with trails in the vicinity of each education site and know alternate routes for emergencies
- Prepare all equipment in advance of programs
- Serve as role model for Mohonk Preserve’s stewardship ethics and philosophy of environmental education
- Train to deliver outreach programs to schools, libraries, and the community
- Lead outdoor environmental education programs and hikes
