Summary
Do you love to work outside, have a sense of humor, and enjoy working with children? Spend a season in the sunny Carolinas as a School Year Programs Instructor with YMCA Camp Thunderbird! Located on beautiful Lake Wylie, the Environmental Education Center and Conference & Retreat Program provide unique learning experiences for school groups and community groups.
Instructors teach classes during the week for our Environmental Education Center and lead programs for visiting retreat groups. Our curriculum of 24 classes range in topics from aquatic, forest, and wildlife ecology to astronomy, pioneer study, canoeing, teambuilding, and high ropes. Two evenings a week, instructors lead meals and evening programs. Staff work 40-50 hours/week. Weekend work is required.
Compensation includes $400/week, staff housing, meals, free internet, a complimentary Charlotte YMCA membership, and a staff training period that offers CPR, first aid, and lifeguard certification. Instructors will also gain experience on several High Ropes courses. Previous experience working with children is highly recommended. The spring season runs now until May 15, 2022.
