Vida Verde Nature Education is seeking full-time School Year Instructors for the 2026–2027 season (January through early June). This role blends outdoor education, student support, and site caretaking in a residential environmental education setting.
Instructors lead 3-day, 2-night programs for 4th–6th grade students, facilitating activities such as redwood hikes, tidepool exploration, organic farming, goat milking, campfire programs, and night hikes.

Summary

The instructor position is well-suited for folks with experience in outdoor education, classroom teaching, and/or engaging and supporting low-income and students of color. This is a full-time, school-year position, with Housing & Camp Caretaker Work.

Program weeks are scheduled September-November and January-June, with about 33 weeks of program.  Caretaker work commitments outside of program weeks (for example, over winter break during late November and December). The instructor will be driving 20-passenger electric buses and is required to have a CDL Class C- Passenger Endorsement (obtain immediately upon hire and be certified by the first few weeks of program, resources and financial support available). On-the-job training for instructor work will happen during the first two weeks of employment. There is a break in February and a spring break in March/April.

Additional responsibilities described:

Driving a 20-passenger electric bus (CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement required; support provided to obtain, must have valid US Drivers License to apply)
Participating in weekly professional development and team meetings
Completing site and farm-related caretaker duties (Mondays and periodic weekends)
This is an active, hands-on role requiring long days during program (10–12 hours), working outdoors in varying conditions, and the ability to hike several miles and lift up to 50 lbs.
