Job Summary
Red Butte Garden is seeking an Outreach Education Coordinator to oversee out-of-house education programs including Grow Lab, our 1st-grade, state-wide, science outreach program. Responsibilities include updating, evaluating, scheduling, facilitating, coordinating, and delivering the Grow Lab workshops and class visits, co-managing, and training seasonal staff and volunteers, maintaining and building community partnerships, collecting and organizing program data, and communicating with schools, districts, and teachers, budgeting, purchasing, manufacturing, organizing, and maintaining materials, assisting in the development and implementation of DEI programming, incorporation of virtual programming, development and coordination of pre and post-visit activities, and assisting in the development and delivery of other school programs.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the Grow Lab program, other Out-of-House teacher and student experiences, and associated materials, lessons, and teacher workshops
- Assist in the daily operations of all aspects of Out-of-House programming, including Grow Lab, by maintaining supplies, facilities, and equipment both In-House and across the state
- Develop, pilot, edit, and deliver Out-of-House programs, associated materials, and teacher workshops based on SEEd/NGSS science standards
- Develop and maintain a schedule for Out-of-House programs, including class visits and teacher workshops throughout the state
- Maintain and build community partnerships for Out-of-House programs, including class visits and teacher workshops
- Determine budgeting and purchasing needs for Out-of-House programs, including class visits and teacher workshops
- Develop, edit, pilot, and maintain new curriculum and program development based on SEEd/NGSS science standards
- Travel to urban and rural locations to deliver programming, including multi-day travel
- Assist in the creation and facilitation of school programs master plan to increase student reach throughout the state
- Assist in the delivery of professional development workshops and programs for K-12 aged students across the state.
- Assist School Programs team with new curriculum and program development based on based on SEEd/NGSS science standards
- Assist in the development and delivery of all School Programs programming
- Provide Garden-wide assistance with special events

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

As this position would use our university truck to travel, the incumbent must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license per U of U policy.

- Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to lead others through the Garden in a variety of weather conditions
- Education or experience in DEI or underserved populations helpful
- Some proficiency in Spanish or other languages helpful
