The research manager coordinates the ongoing research projects at Tin Mountain. The position also collaborates on the community science initiatives.

Summary

This position works closely with the Research Director to oversee all research projects at Tin Mountain including Avian, Stream Habitat Enhancement, and Community Science projects. This includes spending time both in the field and in the office, working cooperatively with others in a team, and researching/developing/utilizing new research tools and techniques.  This is a 40 hour/week position with benefits and the expected work week is Monday – Friday with occasional weekend and evening work.   

Research Manager duties include the following: 

  • Act as the day-to-day Manager of Research Program at Tin Mountain
  • Help hire, supervise and work with interns in the field
  • Participate in research activities, including GIS mapping, data collection & analysis
  • Write articles for publication relating to the Tin Mountain Research Program
  • Work with Research Director to:
    • improve field protocols and data analysis techniques
    • Aid in grant writing and development
    • Network with other environmental organizations in the area 
  • Assist in teaching selected school programs
  • Present at Nature Program Series
  • Occasionally participate in special TMCC events

Qualifications/Skills required

This position requires a person with field research experience as well as skills with data analysis, GIS, and writing for publications.  Supervisory experience is necessary.  Solid communication skills essential. Working cooperatively with others is required. Grant writing experience preferred but willing to train. 

Educational Requirement:  Master’s Degree in a STEM related field

Compensation Information

The research manager position is fully benefited, including health insurance, vacation and sick time. Salary range $45,000-50,000 DOE.
