Summary
This position is a partnership between GO-STEM and OMSI.$56,637.00 Salary/year
The Regional Engagement Strategist is an ambassador from Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) to a specific community within Oregon. They will work on strengthening and building partnerships within the region, as well as creating and delivering engaging science-based programming. The position is designed to add to the science learning opportunities that a community has access to, resulting in the enrichment of available STEAM offerings.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Regional Education:
-
Develops and modifies OMSI STEAM programming that engages school audiences, families, and the general public while considering the culture of the region;
-
Collaborates with area partners to co-develop and deliver joint programming;
-
Delivers and presents OMSI Statewide Engagement programs in an engaging and enthusiastic manner that actively integrates diversity, equity, access, and inclusion across their work.
OMSI Regional Partner Stewardship:
-
Establishes and maintains OMSI partnerships within assigned region;
-
Serves as a liaison between assigned region and OMSI to strategize and coordinate opportunities to strengthen and expand partnerships;
-
Collaborates with area partners to ensure regional community engagement.
OMSI Community Involvement:
-
Contributes to the creation and refinement of the programming budget;
-
Works closely with area partners and the Senior Director of Statewide and Community Engagement to create and maintain an engagement strategy for the region;
-
Actively contributes to and advances OMSI's goals and objectives through ongoing engagement in education best practices, EDI, scientific knowledge, and safety/operational efficiency practices;
-
Participates in staff education initiatives or museum projects in support of OMSIs Equity Action Framework (EAF) and the OMSI Learning Experiences Framework.

This position is exempt, paid salaried;

This position is regular full-time scheduled for 40 hours/week:
-
This position is headquartered at Eastern Oregon University and requires regular driving across different distances in the Eastern Oregon region in support of community partner programming;
-
Requires working on some weekends, holidays, and/or evenings in support of programming, including but not limited to attending county fairs, festivals, and other community events;
-
This position requires occasional travel to the Portland Metro area.;

Secondary Job Responsibilities
Secondary responsibilities includebut are not limited tothe following:

Attends OMSI required meetings (in-person/virtual, as needed);
-
Coordinates all supplies for individual programs, as well as vehicle preparation with safety checks and responsible for making travel and hotel arrangements;
-
Provide assistance to Portland-based educators on an as needed basis, such as collaboration on curriculum creation, training, regular team meetings, or program delivery in areas outside of the particular region.

Education & Work Experience
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree;
-
Minimum of 3 years experience with the following:
-
Examples of developing, synthesizing, and delivering educational content to diverse audiences, with an emphasis on educational programming for K-12th graders;
-
Examples of effective classroom management and time management capabilities;
-
Experience working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and talents in an informal/formal education work environment, with an emphasis on working with students, families, and colleagues of color.

Examples of responsible independent work and/or minimal supervision in the coordination of an organizations programming, including managing/coordinating events, programs, and/or learning experiences.
-
Examples of centering equity and access, with an emphasis on active participation in conversations and strategy development that eliminate barriers;
-
Examples of effective communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a work environment, as well as fostering strong and lasting community partnerships and relationships.
PREFERENCES:

Hands-on science-related work experience or a degree in education or STEM;

Track record of establishing or contributing to system and processes improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Drivers License and must meet the requirements in the MVR Policy including passing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check;

Must have a reliable vehicle to drive to locations within assigned region.

Current Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications:
