The Summer Camp Director will provide leadership and support for counselors and will liaise with parents and other community partners. Successful candidates will be invited to become Program Director, leading grant-funded field trips, supporting fundraising, community building and more. Program Description

Mountain Kids is a 14 year-old outdoor education and adventure program for children ages 5-16 years, connecting kids with nature, themselves, and each other through personal challenge, learning and fun.

Program/Camp Director Desired Skill set:

●      Self-starter, independent, resourceful, savvy, responsible

●      Detail-oriented, multi-tasker, organized, excellent time management

●      Excellent verbal communicator with parents, children and staff

●      Kid-friendly, outdoor enthusiast and environmentally conscious

●      Excellent judgment, problem-solving skills and flexibility

●      Ability to coordinate logistics and handle the unexpected

Primary Responsibilities:

●      Assist with staff selection

●      Plan and lead daily staff meetings - provide supportive team building environment

●      Plan staff bonding events throughout the summer

●      Plan and lead portions of staff training (May 23-27, 2022)

●      Communicate with Director and Office Manager/Registrar

●      Ensure all programs have needed supplies including art supplies, books, wilderness skills supplies, bandanas, t-shirts, all paperwork

●      Organize, clean and order needed supplies

●      Meet with Director on a weekly basis - willingness to hear and incorporate feedback

●      Share program curriculum with counselors

●      Oversee camp counselors performance, adherence to correct staff uniform guidelines (t-shirts, masks)

●      Manage schedule and arrange substitute counselors as needed

●      Be present at morning drop off and pick up (Mon-Fri, Drop off: 8am-10 am, Pick up:

3:15-4:30pm) to meet and greet parents, kids, counselors, at Patrick Smith Park ● Visit groups in the field to provide skills support, humor, a story, etc.

●      Review curriculum and brief staff each week, gather feedback from staff each week

●      Schedule guest speakers & field trip locations, dates, and times

●      Additions or subtractions to scope of work may be made at any time, according to mutual

agreement.

●      Communicate with partners (i.e. SFPS, Audubon, , SFNF, City of Santa Fe) regarding pick-up and locations, as needed

●      Plan and implement summer community building and fundraising event

 

 

Marketing Coordinator

This 5 hour per week position could be part of the above position if candidate has the full range of skills needed. We are seeking an individual with a passion for marketing, social media and communication with a growing audience interested in outdoor education. Applicants for the position of Marketing Coordinator should be tech savvy and be proficient in social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram), Mail Chimp and Wordpress, or have the aptitude to learn these platforms. Successful candidates will also support our fundraising efforts to provide scholarships for children to access our programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

●      Create and send regular newsletter using Mail Chimp

●      Create, gather and post informative social media content daily, engage with posts

●      Resize, compress and organize photographs

●      Update Wordpress website as needed

●      Create blog posts

●      Manage advertising and PR opportunities

●      Posters/Postcards – print and distribute

●      Support donor relations and fundraising

Job Training/Start Date: April 1, 2022

Staff Training– May 23-27, 2022. Includes two-day training with wilderness skills expert, Jessie Krebs of the SERE Institute and OWLSS (Outdoorsy Women Learning Survival Skills).

Minimum Qualifications to meet upon acceptance:

●      Wilderness First Aid/CPR

●      Excellent driving record

●      Background check

●      Fully vaccinated

 

Compensation and Benefits: $20/hour, 20-40 hours/week
