We are hiring a full-time salaried program coordinator for Camp Arroyo!
Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator for WOLF School Camp Arroyo will provide full time program leadership to the outdoor school during the school year for the duration of each week’s program, including being on call and on-site while students are present (3-5 days each week), and will support the Taylor Family Foundation programs and be scheduled on call and on-site to relieve the camp director in the summer. During the school year, the Program Coordinator will work daily with the Camp Arroyo Director, and be in ongoing contact with the WOLF School Director and Administrative Office and other WOLF School Program Coordinators at other WOLF Campuses. During the summer, the Program Coordinator will provide support to the Taylor Family Foundation programs and the Camp Arroyo Director as they serve summer campers. They will be the main coordinator for the challenge course (climbing wall, zipline, and several other elements), and will need to hold an ACCT Level 1 or 2 certification or be able to attend a week long UCCR-provided training to acquire Level 1 and/or work toward Level 2 upon hire.
Housing is provided at Camp Arroyo, although it may be possible to live off-site if desired and to stay on-site during on-call times (during outdoor school programs and on-duty times during the rest of the year).
CAMP ARROYO & WOLF SCHOOL SUMMARY
Camp Arroyo: Beginning in June 2019, UCCR WOLF School began operating Camp Arroyo, serving teachers and students at its outdoor school with a priority on serving the students of the East Bay and campers affiliated with the Taylor Family Foundation. In the summer, Taylor Family Foundation sponsors campers attending Camp Arroyo through a variety of organizations. Other groups attending Camp Arroyo on weekends include non-profits of all kinds, who come for the beautiful retreat space and excellent food service. Camp Arroyo is owned by the East Bay Regional Parks District and in an ongoing partnership with the Taylor Family Foundation, both of which have offices at Camp Arroyo.
WOLF School: Since 1989, UCCR WOLF School has provided engaging and impactful educational outdoor experiences for California’s K-12th grade students. Currently we have program at four outdoor school sites in northern California.
We believe in the transformative power of outdoor experiences and are committed to designing immersive programs that connect youth with nature, empower individuals, and strengthen communities. Through lessons and activities that make learning fun, WOLF School gives students the chance to gain knowledge, awareness, and respect of their environment, their community, and themselves. WOLF School’s mission is building respect, appreciation, and stewardship within the web of life.
WOLF School’s programs are designed for K-12 students and serve youth from a range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Programs are delivered in a multi-day residential format. All WOLF School staff members are engaged in the development and implementation of a safe, educational, and inspiring program in outdoor education.
Web of Life Field (WOLF) School is the outdoor school component of United Camps, Conferences and Retreats (UCCR).
Location: The Program Coordinator will be stationed at Camp Arroyo in Livermore, CA but may be called upon to work/train/travel to our other camps located in Aptos and Pescadero and attend annual UCCR trainings at other locations in CA. WOLF School operates out of Santa Cruz, CA, with program sites in Santa Cruz, Pescadero, and Livermore, CA.
Work schedule: Residential outdoor school hours are 8:00 am on the first day through 4:00 pm on the last day with a mid-day break and evening program hours until 10:00pm. Program sessions usually run 3-5 days. The program coordinator is required to stay on site overnight and is on call.
Summer camp hours are full time and days and hours vary according to group arrivals and departures.
Position begins February 2023.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program:
· Participate in the design and implementation of curriculum and program offerings
· Develop positive relationships between program staff, facility staff and participants
· During programs, be on call and be deployed at the direction of the WOLF school director
Supervision:
· Provide on site supervision to staff during programs
· Provide on site supervision, positive discipline and support to participants during program
· Provide on site supervision of UCCR WOLF health and safety program
Administration:
· Provide oversight of the assigned programs
· Communicate with school contacts and classroom teachers regarding program details and curriculum
· Lead and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as requested
· Maintain program equipment and supplies
· Maintain online records of attendance, invoices, school information, and communicate with accounting, and other administrative departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education or work experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university
· Minimum of three years’ experience in environmental education program and curriculum design and implementation, or equivalent
· Hold current challenge course Level 1 or 2 certification or ability to acquire training (we provide training) and coordinate/deliver course programs
· Be positive and enthusiastic when it comes to working with K-12 students, teachers, and volunteers in a hands-on learning environment
· Demonstrate responsibility, organization, flexibility, and sound judgment as it relates to the delivery of youth program activities in a team setting.
· Excellent leadership and communication skills
· Requires the ability and willingness to remain on-site and on duty for duration of each program, or as needed, and to work weekends and holidays as needed
· Ability to follow and enforce program and site guidelines and expectations with staff and customers
· Ability to pass a TB test
· Hold or obtain current CPR and first aid certificate
· Ability to role model leadership and safety as the highest priority.
· Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
· Pass a background check

Compensation Information
Pay Rate: $64,480-$66,500/year depending on experience
Generous benefits package including medical benefits, optional vision, dental, 403b offered.
