The Program Coordinator is responsible for furthering the Cumberland River Compact's mission and impact through education and outreach with our Youth and Community Education programs, with a specific focus on supporting teachers in implementing place-based environmental education.

Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for furthering the Cumberland River Compact's mission and impact through education and outreach with our Youth and Community Education programs, with a specific focus on supporting teachers in implementing place-based environmental education.

Education 70%

  • Organize and lead teacher trainings and professional development including developing new lessons, resources, curriculum, and events.
  • Build relationships with schools, school districts, and teachers across the Cumberland River Basin.
  • Deliver and coordinate direct education programs as needed including STEAM Expeditions, Extended Learning, and other School Programs
  • Assist with Family Engagement programs including the annual Waterfest – a youth education special event. 
  • Assist the Manager with planning, execution, and evaluation of the Nashville Youth Climate Summit and related programming.
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers needed to deliver programs, including Volunteer Educators.
  • Give in-person presentations to share the organization’s mission in the community

Outreach 30%

  • Conduct outreach to communities to implement small-scale restoration practices including rain gardens, riparian buffer plantings, streambank restoration, etc.
  • Lead community education outreach and events including River Talks, the City Nature Challenge, neighborhood/HOA outreach, and business engagement. 
  • Develop educational materials including flyers, activities, and formal signage.

Compensation Information

Compensation range for this position is based on experience and ranges from $40,000-$45,000.
