The Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument seeks to hire a Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to organize and promote our programs and events, which currently include our Hike & Learns, Summer Interpretive Ranger Program, volunteer stewardship days, Monument Research Symposium, and fundraising events. The Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant will also provide administrative support in the areas of fundraising, communications, and internal operations as directed by the Executive Director.

OVERVIEW

The Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument seeks to hire a Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to organize and promote our programs and events, which currently include our Hike & Learns, Summer Interpretive Ranger Program, volunteer stewardship days, Monument Research Symposium, and fundraising events. The Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant will also provide administrative support in the areas of fundraising, communications, and internal operations as directed by the Executive Director.

 

  • Position Title:  Program Coordinator and Administrative Assistant
  • Hours:  20 - 25 hours/week
  • Salary:  $22.00/hr
  • Reports To: Executive Director 
  • Position Start Date: February 2023, position is open until filled with priority given to applications received by January 27, 2023

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination (60%) 

  1. Ensure high quality programming 
    1. Coordinate and communicate clearly with program partners, participants, and volunteers including managing registration and logistics, setting schedules, answering questions
    2. Attend events as needed to welcome participants, introduce program leader, bring necessary materials, get forms signed, take photos, ensure safety of participants
    3. Make sure program materials are up-to-date and sufficient for program needs – i.e., first aid kits, safety plans, photo and liability waivers, evaluation forms
    4. Write blog posts, Eventbrite announcements, newsletter blurbs
    5. Track program metrics, help write reports and evaluate success of programs
  2. Support Summer Interpretive Rangers with onboarding, communications, and act as an outdoor environmental education substitute teacher as needed 
  3. Work with Executive Director and Board to develop and deliver new programs 

Communications/Marketing (20%)

  1. Help develop and implement a robust communications/marketing plan which includes strategies such as website announcements, social media postings, press releases, radio PSAs, online calendars postings, flyers, and Eventbrite listings
  2. Support development and maintenance of website, newsletters, brochures, annual reports
  3. Staff information booths at community events and visitor contact station in the Monument as needed 

Administration Assistance (20%)

This may include, but is not limited to the following: 

  1. Research grant funding opportunities and help write grant proposals
  2. Help with donor correspondence and records; report on donation activity
  3. Help prep materials for Board meetings; attend and present at monthly Board meetings as requested
  4. Conduct research on various topics

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, ecology, environmental studies, or a related field; please apply if you have relevant experience without a degree
  2. Working knowledge of and experience in program management, volunteer coordination, and marketing
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  4. Fluency in social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and office apps, Eventbrite, and Zoom; internet research required
  6. A car or access to a car for transportation to the Monument
  7. Ability to work from home (We are currently looking for office space)
  8. Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  9. Experience and interest in taking high quality photos is desirable
  10. Experience and comfort teaching outdoor environmental education to kids is highly desirable
  11. Familiarity with the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is desirable
