Hunt Hill Nature Center (HHNC) is a nonprofit environmental education organization dedicated to connecting people with nature through hands-on learning and conservation-focused programs. HHNC stewards 598 acres of protected land and waters and serves youth, adults, and families in a supportive, mission-driven setting.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator role is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in environmental education, conservation, nonprofit work, or outdoor programming. This position offers hands-on experience in program coordination, community engagement, marketing, staff supervision, and nonprofit operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and help deliver public environmental education programs
  • Promote programs through social media, website updates, and community outreach
  • Communicate with presenters, volunteers, and participants
  • Assist with program logistics including registration, setup, and follow-up
  • Hire, train, and supervise seasonal summer staff
  • Support program evaluation, budgeting, and attendance tracking
  • Work collaboratively as part of the camp team to support daily operations

Who We’re Looking For

We encourage applicants who may not meet every qualification but bring enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

  • Associate’s degree or relevant experience in environmental studies, education, outdoor recreation, nonprofit work, or related fields
  • Interest in conservation, natural history, or environmental education
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort working with the public and in group settings
  • Experience in social media, marketing, or event coordination
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical tasks in varying weather
  • Valid driver’s license and U.S. work authorization

Helpful but not required:

  • Supervisory, teaching, or camp experience
  • Familiarity with WordPress and design tools (Canva)
  • Lifeguard or first responder certification (or willingness to obtain)

Compensation Information

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, salaried position ($38,000/year) averaging 40-45 hours/week
