Position Purpose & Summary:
The Program Assistant Manager (PAM) is a full-time exempt position (equivalent to 40 hours/week). This position will be responsible for providing administrative, operational, and logistical support to the Farm-Based Wellness Program (FBWP) for approximately 8-9 months out of the year, which includes, but is not limited to participant recruitment, volunteer management, community outreach & engagement, program collaboration, stakeholder management and budget management. The remaining months of the year the FBWP is less active and requires less attention, at that time the PAM will provide the equivalent support to other programs at Gather New Haven (GNH) as needed. The PAM will support the FBWP Manager to ensure that the programmatic components of the FBWP consistently meet performance objectives and bring measurable evidence-based value to program participants and other stakeholders. The PAM is responsible for adding meaningful value to Gather New Haven by contributing to its mission, the FBWP, and the rest of its programs. The position reports directly to the FBWP Manager.

Program Overview:
Gather New Haven’s FBWP is a year-round intensive lifestyle intervention program that runs primarily in the summer and continues monthly after the summer program concludes. The FBWP addresses chronic diet-related illnesses by providing gardening, nutrition, cooking, and lifestyle change education to medically referred participants. The program conveys the importance of sustaining a healthy lifestyle through fellowship and considering the familial context. The FBWP also promotes health, wellness, a whole foods plant-based diet, and nutrition to New Haven’s communities through culturally relevant workshops, presentations, and activities. Supporting the FBWP are GNH’s urban organic farms along with the incorporation of Gather New Haven’s synergistic programs and properties.

Required Skills & Experience:
● Nutrition, public health or social work related degree(s)
● Bi-lingual, Spanish speaker fluency (comfortable speaking)

Compensation & Hours:
This is a full-time exempt salaried and benefits-eligible position. Salary range is $40-44k/year. Benefits
include sick days, vacation, and holidays (federally recognized holidays as well as three floating holidays
for non federally recognized days of observance), and employer-sponsored medical health insurance.
Staff are entitled to a share of farm-grown produce during the farming season.

● Presenting evidence-based lifestyle advice
○ Assisting the FBWP Manager with the presentation of the FBWP version of
the CDC’s National Diabetic Prevention Program (NDPP)
○ Coordinating recipe demonstrations
● Community engagement and outreach
○ Representing the FBWP and GNH’s other programs at events to promote the
FBWP and GNH
