Primary Grades Teacher

Cocoplum Nature School is hiring primary grades (K-2) classroom teachers for our untraditional elementary school in Delray Beach, Florida. Our vision is to cultivate liberated learners who can collectively create a more just and healthier planet. We're looking for educators with the magical combination of the creativity, flexibility, and skills to thrive implementing a nature-based, place-based, play-inspired emergent curriculum approach, and with successful traditional elementary school teaching experience

Qualifications

• Three professional references
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
• Valid teaching certification in Elementary Grades (K-6) OR 3 years teaching experience AND a degree in a related field (e.g. social work, psychology, environmental studies) AND ability to obtain a Florida teaching certificate within 2 years
• Ability to work in the United States
• Level 2 Fingerprinting
• CPR and First Aid training preferred
• Reading experience/certifications/endorsements preferred

• Classroom management, knowledge of conscious discipline
• Speaking and listening skills related to communicating with children
• Interpersonal skills including excellent communication, conflict resolution, relationship building, collaboration and teamwork
• Intrapersonal skills including self-regulation of emotions, self awareness, confidence, and resilience
• Prompt and reliable
• Desire to always learn, grow and improve
• Agile, creative problem solving

Roles and Responsibilities

Cocoplum Nature School teacher roles and responsibilities include planning, instructing, assessing, supervision and discipline, ongoing professional learning, communication, positive school culture, and other duties as assigned.
