Join our nature-based program serving kids 1-5. Teachers and students spend an average of 2-3 hours exploring the outdoors in a location that borders Rocky Mountain National Park. Using the environment as inspirations, staff facilitate learning opportunities for in nearly all weather conditions. This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience with children and wants to live and work in the Rocky Mountains.



The Bennett Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising youth in a variety of outdoor and indoor programming, under all weather conditions. The Bennett Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care of children 1 year-5 years, with the ability to identify and respond to safety problems.

  • Practices safe, responsible care of children.
  • Implements curriculum and programming for assigned group of children.
  • Communicates the core values and rules, and carries out positive behavior, with children.
  • Observe children's development while taking anecdotal notes, video, and photographs.
  • Predict, prevent, identify and respond to safety issues for children in his/her care.
  • Uphold Policies and Procedures as it relates to childcare licensing, YMCA policies, and ACA guidelines.
  • Must attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Assist in opening or closing the preschool as assigned.
  • Participate in daily cleaning of program buildings as assigned.
  • Work in other departments or program areas as assigned.


  • Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to work effectively with other team members and communicate to resolve issues
  • Must regularly lift up to 40 pounds up to four feet
  • Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be fluent in speaking English
  • Must enjoy working with kids.
  • Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to walk up to two (2) miles on uneven terrain

Compensation Information

Starting pay is $16/hour. Start date is August 12 and runs through the end of May 2025 with option to extend if desired. Four weeks unpaid vacation over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break is optional. Onsite housing and meal plan is available through the Rocky Mountain Living Package.
