Summary

Manage thematic interpretive services for approximately 200,000 annual visitors focusing on historical, archeological and biological topics. Develop and manage tours, family programs, curriculum-based school field trips, hands-on activities and events for multi-generational audiences. 

This position will focus on program development related to the animal forest and school groups, however, they will assist regularly with programming related to the history of Charles Towne Landing and the park’s archeological work.

1) Research, develop and implement animal and natural history programming for CTL Animal Forest.
2) Schedule, promote, and present special events, festivals and Saturday program series to meet established services and standards as set by CTL and the SPS.
3) Oversee and manage all Discover Carolina and school group programming for CTL.
4) Support the administrative structure of the interpretive department that includes work plans, interpretive budgets, scheduling, purchasing and other administrative duties.
5) Direct the management of animal forest interpretive signage to include planning, implementation, curation, maintenance and upkeep.
6) Assist with historical and archeological programming of Charles Towne Landing.
7) Develop and Implement virtual programming and videos relating to the zoological and natural history of Charles Towne Landing.
8) Practice and promote teamwork within Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders.  Represent office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year. Coordinate volunteer opportunities to support staff needs of Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site Education and Interpretation Department.

 

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree and two years' experience in managing and interpretive programing in an interpretive center/ nature center, zoo, aquarium, state park or similar facility.
  • Actual Job Location: Charlestowne Landing State Historic Site.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Housing not provided.
