Summary
Want to turn outdoor education into a full time career? Nature’s Classroom New England is looking for Program Coordinators to join our administrative team!
Nature’s Classroom New England is the largest overnight, hands-on, nature/science/SEL based outdoor education program in the northeast. We provide programming for thousands of elementary and middle school students across New England each year!
Each spring and fall we host students at our 6 beautiful sites. During their 1-5 day stay, students participate in an exciting variety of day and night time activities, facilitated by Nature’s Classroom instructors.
Program Coordinator responsibilities include:
- Oversee all day-to-day operations and programming at your site.
- Manage, supervise, and support a staff of 8 - 15 instructors.
- Create and maintain a positive relationship with your host site.
- Participating in our bi-annual Program Coordinator training programs.
- Run a comprehensive instructor training week at the beginning of each season
- Create a positive and professional work culture.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools.
- Provide consistent and ongoing communication with each school. This includes traveling to schools to run informational meetings during the winter months.
- Perform all administrative duties (eg. creating schedules, writing group reports, managing a site budget, etc).
This is a full time position with 10 weeks unpaid each summer. During those 10 weeks, Program Coordinators may choose to work a summer job, or take some time off.

Salary and Benefits
Starting salary is $900 per week.
Housing and meals during the program season.

Housing and Accommodations
Housing will be provided at your host site during the fall and spring seasons. Winter housing is also available upon request. Food is provided when schools are on site. A communal staff kitchen and food stipend are available on weekends and when schools are not on site.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least one year of management experience.
- At least five years experience working with youth.
- At least three years experience working in an outdoor setting (summer camp or outdoor education preferred).
- Ability to work with gmail, google drive, and CRMs, and be able to produce accurate and professional written and verbal communications (i.e. emails and phone calls).
- Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain.
- A passion for outdoor education!
