Outdoor Preschool Assistant Teacher

The assistant teacher position works alongside a lead classroom teacher to help guide young children in exploratory, outdoor, nature-based play and inquiry while promoting pro-environmental behaviors. With the exception of afternoon rest time for the children or the rare occurrence of a stormy day, this position operates outdoors rain or shine. Applicants must have a deep appreciation for helping children develop emotionally and socially, have a wealth of patience, enjoy being outdoors in nature, enjoy learning about local ecology, feel comfortable talking to parents about their children, and be able to follow the ethics and practices of environmental education. This contract position runs from September 5th, 2023 to May 31st, 2024, with a few training/prep days at the end of August. Hours are MWF 9-2 and T/Th 9-12. School holiday closings are observed, including a 2-week break in winter and a spring break. Pay is $18/hour.
