Become a Nature’s Classroom New England Outdoor Education Instructor this fall! We provide programming for thousands of elementary and middle school students at 6 beautiful sites across New England. Instructors are responsible for educating groups of 10-15 students throughout the program, including facilitating day and evening lessons. Some of our favorite activities include wilderness survival, wood carving, aquatic biology, science fair, and outdoor cooking! We are committed to providing the highest quality educational experience to our schools and are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated educators to join our team! Compensation includes $125/day, housing, meals, and a two-week paid training period. The spring season runs from the end of February to June 9.

We are looking for adventurous and passionate educators eager to grow their own knowledge while making a positive impact on students!

Who we are

Nature’s Classroom New England is the largest outdoor education program in the northeast. We specialize in hands-on education with an emphasis on nature, outdoor living skills, science, and social-emotional learning. We provide meaningful programming for thousands of elementary and middle school students across New England and eastern New York each year! Each spring and fall we host students at our 6 beautiful sites. During their 1-5 day stay, students participate in an exciting variety of day and night time activities, all facilitated by Nature’s Classroom instructors. 

What we do

Instructors deliver residential, 1 to 5-day outdoor education programs to students in 4th to 8th grade. The hands-on lessons focus on building critical thinking skills and exploring the connections between the natural and human-made world. Some of our favorite activities include wilderness survival, wood carving, aquatic biology, and a science fair! Instructors also facilitate team building to develop students’ leadership and problem-solving skills. Instructors are responsible for leading groups of 12-14 students throughout the program, including facilitating day and evening lessons. We are committed to providing the highest quality educational experience to our schools and are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated educators to join our team! 

Dates of employment

End of February 2023 through the beginning of June 2023. Instructors will start the season with some paid training.


Desired experience & qualifications 

  • Experience working with elementary and middle school students.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
  • Ability to walk/hike 3-5 miles per day.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of outdoor educators.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a group.
  • A passion for outdoor education!

Compensation Information

Salary & benefits

  • $125 per day 
  • Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel.
  • Shared accommodation is provided. (Service animals only. Sorry, no ESAs)
  • Meals are cooked for instructors during the week and some food is provided on the weekends.
