This is a customer service position with the Department’s Information Center that provides support and assistance to the public. This position requires someone who can provide a high level of professional customer service. Primarily providing information to the public over the phone, emails, and in-person regarding agency work programs, laws, rules, policies/procedures and responding to inquiries and complaints.

Summary

*This position has been reclassed to an Office Specialist I, however it is currently awaiting funding. All duties and responsibilities performed, and minimum qualifications listed, are of an Office Specialist I.

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill a vacant Office Associate II* position out of their Augusta headquarters.

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a customer service position with the Department’s Information Center that provides support and assistance to the public. 

 

The primary duties of this position will be:  

 

  • Serving as the central switchboard for the Augusta headquarters (often handling up to 200-300 calls each day) 
  • Responding to numerous emails from the public about hunting, fishing, recreational vehicle registration/operation, nuisance wildlife and all related laws  
  • Serving as the receptionist in the front lobby assisting customers as needed. 
  • Assisting with the retail sale of merchandise to the public in person as well as through the online store.
  • Operating various computer software for entering, maintaining, manipulating, retrieving, and printing data, as well as using a variety of other standard office equipment to complete a wide variety of tasks.  

 

This position also requires extensive daily contact with the public in person, over the phone, online, and in writing, providing a wide variety of accurate professional information regarding agency work programs, laws, rules, policies/procedures and responding to inquiries and complaints. This position requires someone who can provide a high level of professional customer service.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.

Compensation Information

Grade 13 - $34,944.00 - $48,360.00/Annually
