Summary

Title: Preschool Lead Teacher

Reports to: Preschool Director and Assistant Preschool Director

Status: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Classification: Non-exempt

Start-date: As soon as possible

Term: Staff in-service in August and Sept-May school year - with opportunities for summer and school break employment

Position Summary

Hartley Nature Preschool seeks a lead teacher who is passionate about getting children outdoors to build relationships with nature to join the Hartley team as an Monday-Thursday full day teacher. The ideal candidate will have experience working with preschool children, communicating with families, and managing classroom routines and behaviors. Teachers are caring, compassionate educators who work as a team to fulfill the nature center’s mission of inspiring life-long connections with nature through education, play, and exploration while supporting the whole child’s development. Teaching teams are crafted so that staff members provide a balance of early childhood and environmental education and complement each other in their abilities.

Hours and Benefits:

  • Term: Start date as soon as possible, 2024-25 preschool year dates: September 3, 2024-May 30, 2025
  • Title and Compensation: Lead Preschool Teacher, $17.51/hour 
  • Hours: 
    • Full-time, 40 hours/week
    • Monday-Thursday full day class, approximate hours Monday-Thursday, 8am-4:45pm
    • Additional time for weekly prep, planning, and meetings
    • Required staff meetings/training/planning/prep time approximately every other Friday from 1:30-3:30pm
  • Additional hours may be available at the same pay rate for substitute teaching, teaching school field trips, site visits,after school nature club, and camps at the discretion of the Preschool Director and/or Education Director
