Summary

Position 1) The Preschool Director commits the majority of their time to the administration, direction, supervision, and teaching educational experiences for nature preschool students in accordance with Mass Audubon’s Action Agenda strategic goals, Mass Audubon’s education frameworks, guidelines, and policies for Early Education and Nature Preschools, and Massachusetts Early Education and Care (EEC) and overall best practices in nature-based early childhood education. Specifically, they are responsible for the coordination and oversight of all curriculum and program development, licensing and risk management, marketing and registration, staff hiring and supervision, program evaluation and budget management for the nature preschool that they direct. The Preschool Director supervises full-time, benefited staff as well as part-time regularly schedules and per diem educators, depending on each school’s staffing plan and teaches in the classroom and outdoors as needed. They develop and manage program specific budgets with support from the Statewide Director of Nature Preschool and the Senior Director of Education and Engagement. 

Position 2) The Lead Preschool Teacher at Mass Audubon’s Fern & Feather Preschool is the primary early childhood educator of the teaching team and holds lead responsibility for the one or more preschool classes, collaborating with co-teachers on curriculum development/implementation, student assessments, classroom management, family communication. They are responsible for co-designing educational experiences for nature preschool students in accordance with Mass Audubon’s Action Agenda strategic goals, Mass Audubon’s education frameworks, guidelines, and policies for Early Education and Nature Preschools, and Massachusetts Early Education and Care (EEC) and overall best practices in nature-based early childhood education. Lead Preschool Teacher candidates must possess a strong respect for young children and families, a love of teaching young children and a strong desire to connect children and nature and developing values for stewardship of natural and social communities. The Lead Preschool Teacher must have a keen love of designing nature-based curriculum and teaching outside and the ability to plan multi-sensory, play and nature-based, anti-bias, emergent and developmentally appropriate curriculum, incorporating a variety of hands-on/minds-on experiences. The Lead Preschool Teacher is the primary contact for families in the class, prepares progress reports, parent-teacher team conferences and maintains a warm, professional relationship with children, their parents and caregivers. The Lead Preschool Teacher may supervise Preschool Teachers (EEC certified Preschool Teachers or Assistant Teachers) or per diem educators such as substitute teachers (i.e. supervision in the classroom only) with support from the Preschool Director.

Position 3) We are seeking a Massachusetts Early Education and Care (EEC) certified Preschool Teacher to be part of a team of three early childhood educators at Mass Audubon’s Felix Neck Fern and Feather Preschool. The Preschool Teacher must have a love of nature and teaching outdoors. This position assists the primary teacher team during a portion of the school day, which is based on a nature-based, multi-sensory, play-based, anti-bias and emergent curriculum for multi-age groups (3-5 years) of children and includes typical school-based routine and tasks (transitions, large group time, bathroom time, snack time, etc.).

Compensation Information

Position 1) $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

Position 2) $28.85 To $31.73 Hourly

Position 3) $23.00 To $25.00 Hourly
