Summary

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for registering patrons for classes, answering district-wide and center-specific questions about classes, activities, and programs, and performing clerical and maintenance duties, as assigned. Successful candidates will have knowledge and experience in office management principles and apply this knowledge to work problems while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Candidates will also have a basic understanding of applicable software and computer operations; specifically, Office 365 platforms including Word, Excel, Teams, and the ability to learn a proprietary, patron registration software. Bilingual language skills and an interest in nature, plants, and animals, are preferred.

Tualatin Hills Nature Center, 15655 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton, OR

Schedule: 
We are hiring for two positions, one regularly scheduled for 20 - 29 hours per week and one substitute variably scheduled for rentals and substitute support. The regularly scheduled position is primarily Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 7:30 am – 5:15 pm in the summer; the rest of the year’s schedule is flexible but primarily between the hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:15 pm.  
 
Part-time employees are scheduled variable hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year. 
 
Key components of the job include (but are not limited to):

  • Independently open, close, and staff the front desk at the facility assigned.  
  • Greet the public, create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior, and provide information and assistance regarding schedules, program descriptions, and other general district information over the phone and in person.
  • Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel, as well as take accurate messages.
  • Perform general clerical support, such as generating prescribed reports, assisting the public with program enrollment by signing participants up for programs, receipting money, and performing related registration procedures.

Effective March 1, 2024, a new paid leave for part-time Paid Time Off (PTO), will accrue at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked. This is in addition to Sick leave and may be scheduled by employees for any reason!
