We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Nature Camp Instructors (Counselors). As a Camp Instructor, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and memorable camp experience for children and teens. This is a dynamic position that involves a range of responsibilities, including leading activities, fostering a safe environment, and, importantly, actively participating in swimming activities with campers.

Summary

START DATE AND SCHEDULE:

June 2024

35+ hours per week, Monday through Friday from June through August

 

TRAINING AND SKILLS: 

- Must be at least 18 years old. 

- Strong interest in nature and the outdoors. 

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the camp season). 

- Positive attitude, patience, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing and development of campers. 

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

-Ability to adapt to changing situations and problem-solve effectively.

 

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision and Safety: 

o Always ensure the safety and well-being of campers. 

o Supervise campers during scheduled activities, meals, and free time. 

o Enforce camp rules and guidelines to maintain a secure and inclusive environment. 

o Camp Instructors report directly to the Camp Coordinator and Programmer 

• Activity Leadership: 

o Assist with planning and leading a variety of engaging and age-appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises. 

o Facilitate group discussions and encourage camper participation. 

• Outdoor and Nature-based Activities: 

o Actively participate in outdoor activities all day with campers, ensuring their safety and enjoyment. 

o Assist in organizing and implementing nature-based games, hikes, and activities. 

• Team Collaboration: 

o Work collaboratively with fellow camp counselors and staff to coordinate daily activities and ensure a seamless camp experience. 

o Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions. 

• Camper Engagement: 

o Foster positive relationships with campers, encouraging camaraderie and teamwork. 

o Be attentive to the needs and concerns of campers, providing guidance and support as required. 

• Communication: 

o Maintain open and effective communication with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. 

o Report any incidents, concerns, or noteworthy achievements to camp leadership promptly. 

Compensation Information

$13-$15 per hour DOQ
