Work with wildlife and people offering educational opportunities for visitors and students at a not-for-profit wildlife sanctuary. Naturalists work with North American porcupines, moose, bears, reindeer, and more, offering interpretation and encounters. Positions are paid, offer housing, and benefits.

Summary

Assist the year-round education team in all interpretation, educational programming, tours, and wildlife encounters both at AWCC and off site. This position is designed for college students, recent graduates, or career changing individuals interested in working in this field regardless of relation to their degree path. In this position, interns will have the opportunity to gain experience and skills relative to position duties, and cross train on animal care duties and procedures.

Workdays and hours assigned by Director of Education will vary by week; full 40 hours and 5 days per week, maximum 8 hours per day.  Positions are available beginning in May and ending in September.

Compensation Information

Paid hourly at $14 per hour. Discounted housing is available on and off site. Benefits include sick pay, and eligibility for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Staff receive a discount in our gift store. Visiting friends and family receive free admission.
